About Kevin McCarthy
Kevin McCarthy grew up in the city of Chicago. His father was a Chicago Policeman who helped motivate a desire for public service in all of his children. McCarthy worked for many years in the publishing industry and works in the Advertising & Marketing department at The Observer.
In 2017 McCarthy ran a successful campaign for Cherry Valley Township Trustee, a position he currently holds.. His focus as a Trustee has been on fiscal responsibility and building relationships between the township and other local governments.
In July of 2019, McCarthy announced his candidacy for the Republican Nomination for Winnebago County Board District 11 which includes the Village of Cherry Valley, Cherry Valley Township and parts of the City of Rockford. Against the odds, McCarthy attempted a write-in campaign in 2016 acknowledging the difficulty of such a race but at the same time he knew that this District was not being properly represented.
McCarthy hopes to take his experience as a Cherry Valley Township Trustee and his commitment to Public Safety to the voters in the March 17, 2020 Republican Primary Election. McCarthy is supported by Sheriff Gary Caruana, former Winnebago County Central Committee Chairman Jan Klaas, and many other elected officials and community leaders.
